Paralelamente, Hucleux faz, a partir de 1980, desenhos de “desprogramação”: ele desenha intuitivamente, sem prever nada, tentando acessar uma memória esquecida, enterrada no cérebro de todos os homens. Em 1990 começa a série dos Squares, desenhados com tinta de papel da China no verso de uma tela quadrada de 2m x2m.
De 2005 a 2009, Virgile Novarina visitou-o regularmente, câmera na mão, em sua casa repleta de obras e objetos insólitos. Este filme é o primeiro documentário inteiramente dedicado a esse artista inclassificável. Hucleux , nele, revela espontaneamente sua paixão pela pintura, seu encontro com Vlaminck, a escolha de seu nome de artista, sua dislexia, seu dom fora do comum. Ele nos propõe uma viagem através de mais de 60 anos de criação, desde seus primeiros desenhos de infância até seu último trabalho em curso.

A obra de Jean Olivier Hucleux foi revelada ao mundo da arte a 30 de junho de 1972, em Cassel, quando da
inauguração da grande exposição “Investigação sobre a Realidade – Imagerias de hoje. d5, La documenta
5.” Sete anos mais tarde, Pontus Hulten, diretor do Museu Nacional de Arte Moderna, convida Hucleux a
expor sua obra em “Cópia conforme”,no centro Georges Pompidou, ao lado de Chuck Close e John de Andrea.
Seu retrato, montado por Hulten, aborda o caráter inacabado da obra. “Refletindo, é somente com um exame
profundo do quadro que se obtém a visão metafísica duma realidade totalmente transfigurada... Segundo
ele próprio, Hucleux gostaria de não parar jamais. Continuar sempre, prolongar essa penetração fria,
visionária da imagem. Viver infinitamente a experiência contínua do dia e da noite, de sombra em luz.
Vivê-la até não saber mais, ser o pintor que vive a consciência não-atingida do após, do além. ” Se há
reprodução da imagem, é para ir além da representação, para evacuar a multiplicidade das aparências, a
anedota, e retirar o que é opaco. O trabalho de Hucleux consiste em ir “em direção àquilo que não será
jamais um resultado nem um quadro, mas sim a pintura, a intensidade reencontrada de uma presença.”

Após realizar estudos de Matemática e Física, Virgile Novarina (nascido em 1976) se dedicou à exploração
artística de seu próprio sono sob a forma de escritos e desenhos, e do sono de outros, sob a forma de
fotos e vídeos. Ele publicou seis livros de “Escritos e desenhos da noite”, e expôs na França, na
Alemanha, em Portugal e nos Estados Unidos. A partir de 2006, o próprio fato de dormir tornou-se parte
integrante de seu trabalho, sob a forma de “performances” “Cochilando”, durante as quais ele dorme
publicamente em vitrines de lojas, em galerias e museus.
Em 2002, Virgile Novarina começa uma amizade com Jean-Olivier Hucleux, que ele filma regularmente, de 2005 a 2009. “Jean Olivier Hucleux, do trabalho à obra” é seu primeiro documentário. Anteriormente, havia realizado “Em torno do sono” (2004, 12 min.), um curta-metragem sobre o desenrolar de um dia, cujos únicos personagens são dorminhocos e bocejadores.

Embracing art & ecology, the Columbia Gorge International Film Festival (CGIFF) takes place in the
pristine Pacific North West along the Columbia River. Founded as the Washougal International Film
Festival in 2008 by Breven Angaelica Warren, the festival combines public screenings with small forums
to engage in a dialogue of social issues and cultural exchange through the powerful language of film in

Created in 2011 by Peter Murfet, Richard Harris, Emily and Christopher Abbott, the Southampton
International Film Festival (SIFF) wants to celebrate the diversity of film culture and to showcase new
talents in all areas of filmmaking. The SIFF likes to facilitate films that show off a huge array of
artistic talent getting their moment to shine on the big screen and connect with an audience. There are
